You'll need a payment gateway
If you are going to validate credit cards and take payment on-line . This is the service that actually processes the credit cards for you.
Most will require a credit merchant account but there are a few that don't such as PayPal, which we highly recommend as the most cost effective method of beginning to accept credit cards online.
PayPal enables merchants and individuals to accept credit card, debit card, and bank transfer payments online. In short, PayPal is a web services company, a payment processing company, and a security company all rolled into one.

What will it cost?
As well as the cost of running the site, there is the additional cost of processing payments. PayPal is free to set up and charges a processing fee.
Merchant accounts charge a set up fee plus a monthly fee and transaction fees. For a business start up these can be significant, they may also require to see accounts which is difficult if you are just starting business.
